This document contains Chapters 8 through 10 and Appendixes I through IV of the Prograph Classic Reference manual and reference chapters tailored to the original page layout of those printed chapters. See also RefMan 1-4 and RefMan5-9 for the remainder of the original reference manual
This Prograph Classic Reference Manual section is designed to be read and searched easily by the user. It contains special 'tags' that are located within the text originally printed on each page of the manual.
The Table of Contents and Index chapters contain specific page references for all topics. Simply choose a topic and open the File menu of the stand-alone document. Choose the Find selection. A FIND window will open.
The FIND window will contain an area where the search string is to be entered. For any specific page or for any topic referenced on a specific page, type in an asterisk (*), the page number, and a second asterisk(*) with NO spaces between any of the characters in the string. Point to and click on the Find button to be instantly jumped to one of several tags marking the desired page. Repeat clicking of the Find button to jump to additional tags that are within the referenced text area.
The first tag will be at or very near the beginning of the original page. The last tag will be at or very near the end of the original page. Most of the original page's text will be visible. Use the scrolling feature of the right scroll bar, additional clicks of the Find button, or enhanced keyboard features - page up or page down - to move short distances withint the located text.
To quickly return to a specific section of the Index chapter, search for one of the special tags that identifies the beginning of each section of the index. The A section has a tag *A*, the B section a tag *B*, etc.
The DOCMaker Find feature will quickly locate a specific search string anywhere within the stand-alone document. You can search for words, phrases, or large portions of a sentence if you so desire. Searching in this way is somewhat of an art, so experiment.
Chapter names are designed to provide detailed topic information. Each original chapter was divided into logical sections that are much smaller and that cover one, two, or three topics at most.
If your Macintosh has sufficient main memory, you can have one or more stand-alone DOCMaker documents open at the same time and have Prograph Classic launched as well. It is easy to have all three sections of the reference manual and the tutorial manual open with their windows arranged to show edges. You can then instantly switch between viewing a reference page and programming.
A main memory space of at least 12 megabytes(in addition to the operating system requirements) is suggested to have adequate space for Prograph Classic and all four DOCMaker documents - or multiple copies of any or all documents - open at the same time. You will be able to open one or two reference manual sections and use Prograph Classic in far less memory - 6 megabytes of free memory or less.
DOCMaker provides another nice feature for moving around within a document. Notice that the first 9 chapters have special characters following them - the Apple key symbol plus a number. To jump to any one of those chapters, just press your Apple key and the desired single digit. This feature is available only for the first 9 chapters.
